The Akari A Series Plug-In Pendant Lamp is the same cotton paper lantern form that has been hanging in considered interiors since the 1950s — and it requires nothing more than a hook and a nearby outlet to make its case in yours. The paper diffuses the bulb inside into something that feels less like a light source and more like a quiet presence. The room softens around it.

No hardwiring. No electrician. The only decision is where on the ceiling to put the hook — and which size to choose from ten.

Why Cotton Paper — and What It Does to Light The shade is formed from cotton paper — a material with a natural translucency and a subtle surface texture that becomes visible when the lamp is lit. Unlike synthetic diffusers, cotton paper doesn't produce a uniform flat glow: the fiber structure creates gentle variations across the surface that shift as you move around the lamp. The result is a light that feels alive and organic — closer to the quality of candlelight than to the output of a standard ceiling fixture.

🌾 Steel Wire Armature The underlying framework holds the paper in shape without adding visual weight. From any angle below, the lamp reads as almost entirely paper — light, organic, and finely resolved.
🔆 Dimmer Compatible From a full warm glow for dinner to the lowest, most intimate evening light. Pair with a dimmer switch (sold separately) and the paper shade does its most atmospheric work at lower settings, the fiber texture glowing just at the edges.
